My Dear Fellow Grievers,
This week, I want to discuss how we need to shift our perspective a little on grief.
When we endure physical injury, such as open heart surgery, we see ourselves differently and understand there’s a process.
We can see there’s a wound, and we give ourselves the time and grace to heal. We lean on the support of professionals, family, and friends, knowing we’re in a position that we need help.
But what about an emotional injury like grief?
When we lose a loved one, the wound isn't visible, but it's just as real!
It's a wound that deserves the same level of care and understanding as someone who’s had open heart surgery.
So, what if we treated our emotional wounds with the same care as physical ones?
What if we acknowledged the depth of our pain and showed ourselves the same compassion we’re willing offer to others?
Healing, whether physical or emotional, demands time, patience, and a generous dose of self-love.
So I want you to treat yourself the same way as if you’ve just had open heart surgery.
Give yourself permission to heal!
Understand it takes time, give yourself grace, look for and embrace the support that you need and that’s available to you. Above all, be gentle with yourself as you navigate the unpredictable storms of grief.
Trust that with time and care, you'll emerge from this journey stronger and more resilient than ever before.
Wishing you a week filled with self-compassion and transformative healing.
To Your Peace,
Alan
