My Dear Fellow Grievers,
I finally changed my winter tires for my summer treads this week.
The ritual of changing our tires is an anticipated chore because it marks the changing of seasons—the welcome shift from the icy grip of winter to the warmer embrace of spring.
Here in New Brunswick, we are still wearing coats since temperatures are still shy of double digits and the trees are reluctant to sprout their buds, so it's a little disheartening that Mother Nature is taking her time this year.
I caught myself lamenting the slow arrival of Spring and realized there’s another lesson here.
Spring will arrive! … and no amount of my whining will make it faster.
If I focus on the lack of warmer temperatures, I miss out on the simple joys happening right in front of me.
Things like the only slight crispness of the air now, the return of birds singing in the morning and the oh so gradual but grateful lengthening of daylight.
The seasons are changing and Spring will get here … at its own pace.
Our grief is like that. It's a process marked by small victories and subtle shifts, each one bringing us closer to healing and renewal.
So for those of us walking the path of grief, let’s remember that healing is not a destination but a journey—a journey marked by moments of both sorrow, joy and the promise of new beginnings and endless possibility.
Trust that brighter days are just around the corner.

To Your Peace
