My Dear Fellow Grievers,
There was a segment on the radio years ago that was called “And That’s the Rest of the Story”
One day, as I tuned in, I heard a narrative that stayed with me. It goes like this:
“A rich man commissioned 2 artists to paint him a picture. Their instructions were to paint a picture of peace.
When the artists presented their creations, the first showed a farmer wandering his wheat field on a bright, sunny day, running his hands across the ripe golden grain.
The rich man smiled at the first artist's painting and then turned to the second artist, curious about his interpretation of peace. The second artist displayed his artwork.
The rich man's shocked expression said it all.
The painting showed a dark, stormy night. Heavy rain poured from big black clouds, and massive waves crashed against a cliff. Lightning lit up the sky.
In the midst of this chaos, the only ray of light came from a ledge on the cliff, revealing an eagle's nest. Within the soft glow, a mother eagle spread her wings protectively over her eaglets, shielding them from the fierce storm.
"How does this storm represent peace to you" the rich man asked in disbelief.
The artist calmly replied, "In life, chaos is always present, like a storm we must navigate. True peace isn't something external; peace resides within” placing his hand over his heart.
That poignant story stuck with me, but I couldn't find a copy of the picture.
One day, my nine year old granddaughter, who loves to draw, inspired me. I told the story to her and commissioned her to paint the picture for me.
The artwork she crafted hangs in our cottage today.
Look closely at her colorful storm filled with the innocence of her youth. I love it and how it still serves as a powerful reminder of a timeless message: Peace originates from within us.

We possess the power to choose our responses amidst the chaos surrounding us.
This week, I urge you to seek moments of peace within yourself, regardless of the storms you face. Remember, you hold the ability to create tranquility amidst turmoil. Take a deep breath, reflect, and respond with intention.
Dedicated to Your Peace
