My Dear Fellow Grievers,
Wednesday August 6th marked the first anniversary of my Dad’s passing.
We knew it was approaching and knew it would bring a mix of emotions, but one thing was certain: we wanted to honor him in ways that truly reflected who he was and what he loved.
On that day, the family reached out to each other, sharing stories and memories that brought both tears and laughter.
My dad had a unique tradition that we lovingly recreated despite our different locations.
He made a habit of quitting "working" at noon and heading to the gazebo with his refreshment - a small glass of rum and Pepsi.
It was his way of taking a break, savoring the moment, and enjoying a peaceful respite.
At noon each of us, with our own version of his favorite drink, and took a moment to remember him.
It was a small, yet profoundly comforting ritual that connected us to him and to each other. These traditions, whether big or small, help us mourn and keep his memory alive. They are a bridge to the past and a way to feel his presence in our daily lives.
Now, I’d love to hear from you. How do you honor your loved one’s memory? Whether it’s through rituals, traditions, or simple daily practices, sharing these moments can be incredibly healing and uplifting.
Please head to the Facebook group Rise & Shine Grief Group for Widows & Widowers and share what you do to keep their memory alive.
Your stories might just inspire and comfort others who are navigating their own grief journey.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Dedicated to Your Peace
