My Dear Fellow Grievers,
I love painting.
It's incredible to see such a dramatic change so quickly.
I’m helping a cousin-in-law paint her home … but something feels off - the house is so still, so silent. I'm used to having my tunes cranked up, giving me energy with my favorite songs as I work.
The quiet seems so … quiet.
It makes me think of a quote by Berthold Auerbach. "Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life."
I totally get this!
Music has always been my companion through my life, including my grief journey.
In the early days though, after losing my wife, music often brought me to tears. Certain songs would open the floodgates, giving release to my emotions, helping me navigate the stormy seas of grief.
Those moments, though painful, were also healing.
As time passed, I began to find peace and the same songs that once brought tears now bring smiles and joy.
Music has this incredible power to touch our souls, to heal, and to bring joy!
So, this week, I encourage you to embrace the music that moves you. Create a playlist of songs that you love, that make you want to dance, or that simply allow you to feel.
And remember, it's okay to let the music bring tears, too. Those tears can be healing. They can help you move through whatever you're feeling and come out the other side with a lighter heart.
Wishing you all a week filled with beautiful melodies and moments of joy.
To Your Peace
